US Open 2022 Predictions – Men
-
Novak Djokovic was in prime form to retain his Wimbledon title in his last outing. He was downright imperious at the All England Club to win the event for the seventh time, moving only one crown behind Roger Federer’s record of eight, while surpassing the Swiss in the overall rankings with his 21st title. Djokovic has the chance to move level with Rafael Nadal on 22 titles at Flushing Meadows, where he will look to avenge his defeat in the final last season to Daniil Medvedev. The Serb has been playing outstanding tennis and will be a tough obstacle to overcome. You will not find great value for his US Open betting tennis odds, though, with the best price at 11/8 – but, given his record, it is a sound wager.
-
Medvedev is the reigning champion, and will return to action after he was prevented from playing at Wimbledon by the All England Club due to Russia-Ukraine conflict. He will be hungry to make an impact at the US Open and should be fit and raring to go. The Russian is an excellent player on hard courts, and came extremely close to adding a second crown at the Australian Open, only to lose out to Nadal in a thriller. Medvedev’s odds of 9/4 are compelling, especiall𓆉y given the way he dismantled Djokovic in the tournameꦑnt last year.
-
Alcaraz is a very intriguing talent in the men’s game. He underwhelꩵmed at Wimbledon, losing in the round of 16 at the hands of Jannik Sinner. However, he has certainly displayed a propensity to perform at a high level after reaching the quarter-finals of the US Open last year and the last eight of the French Open. The Spaniard has two titles on the ATP Tour this term at the Miami Open and Madrid Open, proving that he has the composure under pressure. Flushing Meadows could be a breakout event for the 19-year-old.
-
Nadal’s quest for the calendar slam ended through injury at Wimbledon as he was forced to withdraw with an abdominal tear. The Spaniard had to dig deep to defeat Taylor Fritz after sustaining the injury, and had the heart of a champion to see off the American even though it cost him his place in the semi-finals. His injury could loom large at Flushing Meadows where he has not competed since winning the US Open in 2019. Having said all this, we think it is perhaps best to avoid Nadal as a betting prospect in this competition, given his fitness woes.
-
The improvement of Nick Kyrgios was there for all to see at Wimbledon as he produced a brilliant run to reach the final before losing out to Djokovic. He still has his issues with maturity, but a recent win on the ATP Tour at the Citi Open was more than promising. Kyrgios looks a decent shout at odds of 8/1.
-
Out of the rest of the men’s draw, Felix Auger-Aliassime impressed in 2021 with a run to the semi-finals before losing to Medvedev. Although the Canadian’s form has cooled in 2022, he has a good price at 25/1 to make a run for his first Grand Slam. Matteo Berrettini is also a solid option given his impressive record, although he has struggled with injuries and was also forced to miss Wimbledon after contracting Covid-19. His form has been patchy since his return, but he is an outstanding player and his o𒊎dds of 25/1 are great value.
US Open 2022 Predictions – Women
-
The women’s draw stands to be the tournament's namesake – an open affair, as Raducanu proved in her rise to the top in 2021. The Brit came through the qualifiers and stormed her way to her first Grand Slam, the first victory by a qualifier in the history of the US Open. Raducanu has not been as fortunate in her events since, reaching only the second round of each Grand Slam this season, but she could flip the switch and at odds of 25/1, there isꦕ still value to be had, al💙though not quite the 500/1 found in 2021.
-
Iga Swiatek is the current women’s number one, claiming her second Grand Slam at the French Open after reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open. The Pole underwhelmed at Wimbledon, but she may appreciate the hard surface of Flushing Meadows more than the grass of the All England Club. You will not find great value at odds of 11/4, but Swiatek is an 🐼outstanding player and should✤ not disappoint.
-
Naomi Osaka may have arguably lost her way, but should not be underestimated at the US Open. Osaka has been struggling for form and with injuries in the 2022 campaign, but she is a proven winner on hard courts – all four of her career Grand Slams have come on the surface. Out of 300 matches on hard courts, she has won 200. It will require a huge turnaround in form, but Grand Slams are far from straightforward and the form book can go out the window. At odds of 9/1, it might be wo🐓rth a look depending on how s⛄he is seeded.
-
Simona Halep found some semblance of her best form at Wimbledon after a quiet period in her career, where she has battled injuries. The former world number one reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon before losing out to Elena Rybakina. Halep has not always performed well at the US Open, but her outing at Wimbledon should give her confidence at Flushing Meadows. Her US Open odds of 11/1 are decent, although you might b♚e able to find better value elsewhere.
-
Rybakina defeated Halep and then Ons Jabeur in the Wimbledon final to win her first Grand Slam. She has the momentum and could be a challenger, although her record on hard courts is a tad suspect, failing to reach beyond the third round of a slam on the surface. Jabeur had her breakthrough at Wimbledon in advancing to the final, although she ultimately fell short of the win. Her record is not the best on hard courts, and it might be worth avoiding her price of 16/1.
-
Serena Williams has confirmed that the US Open will be her last Grand Slam of her career as she bows out from the sport. Never say never, but this could be the last chance to see one of the greatest players of all time do her thing. The 23-time Grand Slam champion has astounded with her performances over the course of career, and especially at her home slam, where she has won six crowns. Williams has not won a Grand Slam since 2019, but it would be fitting for her to end her career on the highest of notes. If you’re feeling nostalgic, bookies are offering odds of 28/1 on this tennis veteran.

Popular US Open Betting Markets
Many people love to bet on tennis; apart from being one of the best sports to bet on, it is also a straightforward contest in which draws are a non-possibility. The ruling out of ties means that the game needs to find a winner and can have only two outcomes, making it more of a thrilling concept to some. To view our full selection of the top bookmakers out there, take a look at our list of the best UK betting sites.
US Open Outright Winner Betting
There is nothing much more to this than simply a bet on who you think will win the men’s or women’s tournament. Of course, you back your prediction up with a little money and, if your selection wins, then you will make aꩲ profit according 🍸to the odds assigned to your pick.

US Open Match Betting
Match betting is essentially a two-way marketplace in which punters can place a bet on the outcome of an individual match in a tournament – in this case, the US Open.
There are many elements to consider when placing a bet on the US Open for m𓆏atch betting. First of all, always look at the form guide before entering your stake to ensure that the play🥂er you’re backing is playing well and has a good chance of winning. Seeding is crucial as well, as it dictates which players will face off in specific rounds.
In addition, bear in mind that the lower the number, the better the player. Some have specialist surfaces, such as Rafael Nadal, who is dominant on clay, but slightly more human on hard and grass courts. Look at the records of players🌱 on hard courts to judge which onesꦿ might be diamonds in the rough at Flushing Meadows.

US Open Set Betting
Set betting is where punters bet on the final set score of a tennis match. You might think the favourite, who might well be short-priced, is unlikely to drop a set and win 3-0, but others might fancy the underdog to win a one or two sets but still lose. Betting on the f𝓀inal set score is like betting on the score of a football match. If you think it might be 3-1, then ba🌼ck that score line.

US Open Total Games Over/Under
To wager on an Over/Under bet in Tennis is to bet on the total number of games played in a match. The closer in ability the two playe👍rs in question are, the more likely it is that both will win a lot of games (at least, in theory). Therefore, the match could go all the way to the wire and post a high game score, making Over a sensible bet. If there is a significant difference in ability between both contestants, though,𒉰 then we suggest that Under is the more appropriate wager.

US Open Handicap Betting
Set handicap betting is where the two players involved in the match are assigned a value based on who is the favourite and who is the underdog, with the number representing the sets involved. The favourite will be placed with a negative value and the underdog a positive value. For example, in a match between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios, Djokovic will be handed a value of -1.5 and K♈yrgios +1.5. Therefore, a bet on Djokovic will win if he wins by two or more sets, but a bet on Kyrgios would win if he were to win one set.
Best US Open betting site for set handicap betting: Betfair
US Open Game Handicap Betting
Game handicap betting works in a similar principle to set betting, but the values can be a little bit different. The 🌱favourite and the underdog are still assigned negative and positive values, so, ꦦto continue using our last example, Djokovic would be handed -3.5 and Kyrgios +3.5. Once the match has been completed, you then add the value of all the games that have been played.
Therefore, if the contest were to finish 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in favour of Djokovic, he would have a total game win of 18 against the 12 won by Kyrgios. Adding the handicap into the equation, would see that value diminish to 14.5, still handing a win to Djokovic 🎶on the handicap.
However, if the contest were to finish 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, the total values would be 21 for Djokovic and 18 for Kyrgios. Putting the handicap into the equation would lead to a successful ꦆoutcome for a bet on Kyrgios.
This t𓃲ype of wager is a good one to make if there is an imbalance of ability between the two players.

History of the US Open
The tournament was first held in August 1881 on grass courts at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island. Additionally, only men’s clubs that were members of the United States National Lawn Tennis Association were eligible to participate. , who was th🧜e winner of the first ever event, would go on to win seven consecutive singles titles in total.
In 1968, the Open era began when professional tennis p✨layers were allowed to comp♍ete, and two years later, the US Open became the first Grand Slam tournament to use a tiebreaker to decide a set that reached a 6–6 score in games, a feature that is commonplace today. In 1978, the tournament was held in Flushing Meadows, Queens for the first time. The tournament's surface was also switched from clay to hard, which remains in place to this day.
